Its small size, long-lasting battery and ease of use make the Novo X pod kit a solid choice for using on the go. Each Novo X pod features a dual coil build, which means even heat distribution for a long-lasting pod that supports multiple refills. The 0.8 Ohm coil inside the pod will never need to be changed, you just need to replace the pod. For best results, we recommend pairing this kit with a high PG e-liquid that's 50% PG or higher.

Quality

The Smok Novo pod system is one of the latest MTL-focused vapes released by Smok. It's a relatively new entrant in the vaping industry, but it's holding its own against some of the better-known pod systems in the industry.

The Novo X is the third generation Novo product. It features a brand new screen, power button, adjustable wattage and coil. You can select from a vast range of colours available for the device. These include beautiful faux stab wood variations.

The Pod

The Novo X packs a pod that is slightly heavier and bigger than the previous Novo devices. The pod measures 92mm by 26.5mm by 16.5mm and weighs a staggering 50 grams. Despite the upgrade in size, the pod remains extremely portable and is easy to handle.

The device is powered by an 800mAh rechargeable battery with an output of between 1 to 25 watts. It's the same setup as the Novo2, so you can expect the same level of performance.  

The exterior of the new pod is sturdier and feels better than the previous versions. Smok has used a better grade of zinc alloy for the chassis. The front features a modest 0.49" OLED display with a crisp screen. The power button is just below the screen and allows you to easily change the wattage in round robins.

There's no firing button because the device is draw-activated, which is very convenient and handy, especially for new vapers who might find operating the firing button a little tedious.

The device has a micro-USB charging port. Although this is not the best technology, it is relatively good with fast charging. The pod has various protections for safety, including low voltage, short-circuiting, and an 8-second cut-off time.

Coils

The Novo X has a new MTL coil enclosed in the cartridge system. The new coil is a 0.8ohm Novo X DC coil with excellent overall flavour and decent clouds for a device of its stature. It has just the right pull for an MTL device and performs at the same level as the renowned 0.8ohm mesh Novo coil.

Airflow

The airflow on the device is achieved by two small cuts at the top of the battery section. The airflow travels down the sides of the pods and passes up through the ingress tubes such that it hits the coils directly.

Menu and functions

The Smok Novo X's bright screen display is easy to view in direct sunlight. It provides valuable information on different device metrics, including current power output (wattage), battery indicator and percentage, the resistance of the coil and voltage reading.

Operating the device is relatively straightforward using a series of button clicks and combinations:

• Clicking the menu button five times in quick succession turns the device on or off.
• Tapping the menu button two or three times enters wattage mode. A single press of the fire button increases the wattage in intervals of 0.5W. It will be round-robin when it reaches the maximum, which is 25W.
• You can press and hold the menu button down to speed up the wattage selection process.
• The device automatically returns to the main screen display after a few seconds of inactivity.
• After 15 seconds of inactivity, the device will go into hibernation.
