It is a liquid that is used in an electronic cigarette.

The electronic cigarette heats the e-liquid and turns it into vapour when inhaled. It can contain nicotine, and currently, there are thousands of flavours available on the market. The Composition of E liquids

E-liquid comes with a mixture of VG (Vegetable Glycerin), PG (Propylene Glycol), Ethyl Alcohol, Distilled Water, Extracts, Flavourings, and sometimes Nicotine. Not all e-liquid that you can find have the same ratio of PG to VG mixture, so you must spend time going through and understanding your options. Additionally, most of the e-liquids today may come with different flavours and taste different when inhaling, exhaling, and even it's after-taste.

EAs the vaping community continues to grow, lots of brands continually offer exciting new flavours of e-liquids with caffeine, vitamins, and much more to infuse into their products.

• PG and VG. The VG and PG serve as the base of your e-liquid. There are some that are made up of 100% VG, while others follow VG to PG ratios of 50/50, 70/30, and others.
• Flavourings. The flavour concentrates are water-soluble, and consist of flavours such as fruits, chocolates, tobaccos, and countless other flavours!
• Nicotine. The nicotine content is optional and always depends on the user’s preferences.

Organic and Natural Juices

Many people are changing their lifestyles and opting for healthier options. Some companies are creating organic and natural e-liquids to cater to the needs of their vapers. These e-liquids have been produced where methods such as ionizing, genetic engineering, and radiation have not been used. However, for pure organic e-liquid, you should check for its content and should come with 100% VG and 0% Nicotine.

Steeping Your E-liquid

Steeping the e-liquid is starting to be a popular choice for many, and it is like the process of wine ageing to bring out its smoother and deeper flavours. It’s important to shake your e-liquid well, and check if the mixture is thoroughly homogenised. If it is already stronger in the size, then you let it breathe by removing the top cap.

On the other hand, if the e-liquid is weaker in the size, then ensure the cap is on and place it inside dark and cold places after a week. If you are still not satisfied, the last thing you can do is have it in a warm water bath and keep it within room temperature.

Cleaning Spills

For first-timers, e-liquids can be messy so always keep tissues handy for any spills. If you have spilled the whole bottle and you have children or pets in the home, it is key to ensure that the entire surface is cleaned. It’s also important to know that nicotine can penetrate through the skin, and therefore gloves should be worn to protect the skin while cleaning up.

Contents of the best e-liquid

Though e-liquids vary in flavour they all share in their ingredients (at least the best ones do). They are made up of vegetable glycerine, flavour, propylene glycol and nicotine. However, adding nicotine is optional. 

The most common e-liquid formula is where the vegetable glycerine is infused with nicotine, and the PG portion is infused with the flavour. In the spirit of experimenting with new formulas, some manufacturers use vegetable-based nicotine where the flavouring and the nicotine are contained in the vegetable glycerine.

Recently, we’ve seen a spike in interest in Salt Nicotine. This has been fuelled by the industry’s demand for pod devices, including JUUL.

What type of flavour should you choose?

Now, as an online vape shop, we have over 800 e-liquid flavours to choose from. So we get how it can be confusing and why this is the most common question beginners have. 

If you are a smoker looking to switch to vaping, you are probably wondering if you can get Malboro or Mayfair e-liquids. The answer is yes, you can. But as a company, we do not recommend these types of flavours because they end up disappointing clients. You see, when you are smoking, the taste you get is from burnt paper, dry tobacco and a couple of other additives. This taste is impossible to replicate flawlessly (no pun intended) in e-liquids because there’s no combustion. 

But if you insist on tobacco-flavoured e-liquids, we advise you get Desert Blend which is a flavour inspired by cigarettes and has a lot of smoky aspects to it. As a beginner, you might be wondering why you would cherish the taste of ripe mango or an orange in your mouth. Well, our experience in the industry has taught us one thing – new vapers (especially those who’ve recently quit smoking) come back within seven days to try the fruity e-liquid options we offer. 

Over time, smoking tends to suppress taste buds. This is because they get conditioned to the taste of smoke. For such individuals, it’s a turn-off to hear that they’ll be inhaling fruity flavours. But after they quit smoking, they slowly start to regain their sense of taste and smell which means they gradually appreciate the fruity flavours.

What levels of nicotine should you opt for?

After picking a flavour, the next step is choosing the levels of nicotine in your e-liquid. To make a better and informed decision, you should ask yourself the below questions. 

How much do I smoke? If you smoke an excess of 20 cigarettes daily, you are what we call a heavy smoker. The levels of nicotine you choose will depend on the vape pen you want. If you get an all-in-one vape pen, you can do about 12mg of freebase nicotine or about 35mg of salt nicotine. 

On the other hand, if you have a beast for a vape pen like the UWELL Caliburn, we recommend sticking to between 3 and 6mg. With such high-powered vape pens, you expect a stronger throat hit effect. You should not use salt nicotine with high-power vape pens because they have higher nicotine concentrations than freebase nicotine.

If you are a casual/social or light smoker, the above tips still apply to you. However, your decision can be based more on the strength of nicotine suggested by the vape pen you have. If you use STLTH Starter Kit, you should go for between 20 and 35mg of nicotine. 

What is the ideal bottle size?

Now, this is the easiest bit of all. The e-liquids we sell are of different sizes. For the European market, the UK included, bottle sizes are limited to 10ml. This is according to the TPD requirements. It’s also worth noting that TPD restricts vape tank capacities to 2ml. Therefore most manufacturers need to develop devices that are specific to this market. 

Back in 2012, gas e-liquid bottles were a thing. Today, manufacturers are gravitating towards PET squeeze bottles. Glass bottles look great, but they are costlier. But don’t let the packaging fool you, all that matter is inside the bottle. Also, squeeze bottles are more convenient due to their lightweight nature, and they don’t make a mess like glass bottles do.

Will e-liquids give me cancer?

While there's no evidence that vaping will give you cancer, it hasn't been proven that vaping is completely safe either. It's important to note that there's no way to know what chemicals are in your e-liquid until you open the bottle.

Are e-liquids safe to vape in pregnancy?

It's not new research, but it is the first time that it has been suggested that vaping while pregnant could affect a child's behaviour. However, very little is currently known about electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) on pregnancy and fetal growth. So if you're pregnant or planning to become pregnant, it's best to avoid using them.

Will e-liquids stain my teeth?

Unlike cigarettes and cigars containing tar, nicotine does not stain your teeth. However, if you decide to try an e-liquid flavour with food colouring, this may result in staining. But this is more likely to be just on your lips than your teeth.
