The Smok Nord 4 pod kit is a pocket-friendly kit that is simple to use. Recommended for vapers of all experience levels, this kit and its wide range of compatible coils can be used for MTL (Mouth To Lung) and DTL (Direct To Lung) vaping. Capable of an 80W max output, it’s powered by a built-in 2000mAh battery - offering a balance of power and battery life. Even though it offers a genuine sub-ohm experience and features a larger battery, the Nord 4 retains a small size. Designed for use on the go, the battery will support up to a full day of vaping when charged and its small size allows it to fit into a pocket or bag. When it comes to finding your perfect vape, this kit allows you to alter its wattage level to find your ideal level of vapour and flavour production. To better assist adjustments, the Nord 4 is the first in the range to feature an adjustable airflow feature.
Both RPM pods included with this kit can be refilled multiple times and will hold up to 2ml of e-liquid. Thanks to secure bottom filling, refilling is both a quick and clean task. The 0.4 Ohm RPM coil has been designed for MTL vaping and can be used up to 25W and works best with high PG e-liquids. The 0.16 Ohm coil supports higher wattages up to 50W and works better with e-liquid that is 70% VG or higher.

Smok is one of the most notable brands in the vape market. The Smok Nord line has been a major hit among vapers and, within a short time, has come full circle with the Smok Nord 4. With each subsequent release after the original Smok Nord pod, Smok has made changes and adjustments that have kept the Nord range relevant. The Smok Nord 4 isn’t any different. It improves the most critical aspects of the vape pod design and performance. Airflow and battery life are some of the improved features.
Design and Build Quality
High-quality and well-designed pods are scarce in the marketplace. Luckily, Nord 4 is among them. It's a fairly large device compared to the previous Nord models. At 105mm in height, 34mm in width, 24.4mm in thickness, and weighing 115 grams, it’s also a little heavier than previous models. Still, it maintains the same compact and portable aspects that pods are known for.
The Nord 4 has an ergonomic and stylish design. It has rounded edges, a plastic back, and a front panel with built-in LEDs. It also has a rectangular fire button. The airflow is revised and now features two control dials for the airflow on each of the device’s sides.
The built-in OLED screen is brighter than on the Nord 2 but is still not coloured. The screen displays coil resistance, puff count, battery life, voltage, and wattage. There are also two adjustment buttons below the screen to change the wattage.
Battery Life and Performance
The Smok Nord 4 runs on a non-removable 2,000mAh battery. It’s the standard for most pod devices, so there are no surprises. The battery can last between 2 and 3 days when you vape at 25W. The battery life will also depend on the type of coil you use since some require more wattage. There's nothing unexpected about the battery or battery life of the Nord 4. The neat trick is the USB Type-C interface that allows for fast charging. It means you can fully recharge the device in just over one hour.
The performance of the Nord 4 is similar to what you would expect from a brand like Smok. With the constant improvement of the line, it’s safe to say this is the best Nord product yet. It has some firsts and some improvements that have earned it this title.
It is the first to incorporate some sort of airflow control which makes a massive difference in your vaping experience, but it also has the highest power output among the Nord devices. It doubles the output capacity of the Nord 2. That is handy when you want to make the most out of the big RPM2 Mesh coil heads.
The Nord 4 is mainly about DL vaping. The Airflow control makes an effort to provide an alternative for MTL vaping, but DL vapers get the best experience with the big coil heads that chug thick, warm clouds of vapour.
RPM and RPM2 Pods
The Smok Nord 4 comes with two pods. The pods are compatible with any coil in the respective lines giving you plenty of choices. Each pod holds up to 4.5ml of e-juice. The pods also have a light tint, so it's easy to see how much juice you have left. The pods are held in place by a strong magnetic system making them easy to remove and replace.
Each pod is supplied with a coil. The RPM2 pod has a 0.16ohm coil rated at 25-50W and is perfect for DTL vaping. The other is a 0.40 ohm MTL RPM coil with a 25W rating. Both coils are easily inserted into the pod and are secured using a latch.
Refilling the pods has been simplified by adding a removable rubber stopper from the pod's side.
Both pods are designed to deliver exceptional performance and simplify the maintenance and refilling processes, so you spend more time enjoying your vape instead of looking after the device.
How Does the Smok Nord 4 Perform?
The Smok Nord 4 delivers the best performance as a Direct to Lung device. But the MTL experience is not far behind either.
The coils included in both pods are low resistance which allows you to go high on the VG/PG ratio for the thickest clouds.
The airflow adjustment is quite effective in customising your vaping experience, but most vapers get the best experience with the airflow wide open.
Both coils that come with the device are mesh coils. They maximise flavour and vapour production. The 0.4-ohm mesh coil does an impressive job with vapour production delivering a slightly warm and dense inhale. You can use the coil with the airflow wheel fully closed for restriction and a slightly warmer vape.
The 0.16-ohm mesh coil can handle up to 50W with the airflow wheel fully open. The coil delivers exceptional flavour, and vapour with a warm inhale with a penchant for highlighting the sweeter notes at higher wattages.
Airflow
The airflow is among the features that the Nord 4 has improved. The wheels could be bigger to make them easier to adjust, but once you get used to tinkering with them, you shouldn't have any problem.
The device is fairly quiet and smooth, with no whistle or turbulence, even with the airflow fully open. That goes for both pods.
The airflow adjustment does make a difference providing a super airy and restricted draw depending on how you adjust the airflow.
When you get to one wheel, you start noticing the adjustments have a more noticeable difference. That makes the Nord 4 an ideal device for DL and MTL vapers.
